Overview:The Concession is Florida's new $600 million, 1,232-acre
luxury, private, gated, estate golf course community that will feature
a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, designed in association with
Tony Jacklin, as a centerpiece amenity.
Florida Location:Located near the Sarasota/Manatee County line, the
Concession will be connected to Sarasota by an extension of University
Parkway and to Bradenton and the Tampa-St. Petersburg metropolitan
area to the north by State Road 70. I-75 is approximately seven miles
to the west of the property.
Opening Dates: Home sites
are priced from the mid-$300,000s, and sales will commence in January
2004; golf course and sports clubhouse will debut Spring 2005; golf
clubhouse will debut Spring 2006.
Four Builders chosen: Anchor Builders of Southwest Florida,
Gibralter Homes, Inc., John Cannon Homes, and Pruett Builders, Inc.
have been selected to build homes at The Concession
History of the name:The Concession is inspired by and named after the exemplary
sportsmanship displayed by Jack Nicklaus at the 1969 Ryder Cup match
at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, when he conceded a two-foot
putt to Tony Jacklin, resulting in a tied match between the European
and American teams. It was the first tie in the history of the Ryder
Cup, and the moment has been referred by some sportswriters "as the
greatest single sporting gesture ever."
Sense of Place:Dotted with huge 200-year-old oak trees and pines, some as tall
as 150 feet, the land The Concession residential community and golf
course will rest on is an exceptional land parcel suitable for a
luxury development.
Major Amenities:Helipad; croquet courts; golf clubhouse with exceptional
dining, locker rooms, card room and billiard room; sports clubhouse
with fitness facilities and treatment rooms, swimming pool and tennis
courts.
Golf Course Overview:A
Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course Design in association with Tony
Jacklin. The championship course will be designed to be "worthy of
world-class tournament play," according to Jacklin. The Concession
will be the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course on Florida's West
Coast.
Unique Golf Course/Residential Design:A "core" design, the golf course will be on 520 acres, which is
more than three times the amount of land of typical golf courses. The
"core" design will feature adjoining enclaves of estate-like homes.
Golf Facility Amenities:Luxurious golf clubhouse highlighted by a large practice area,
traditional caddie program, and junior golf program.
Home sites and Pricing:There will be 255 single -family home sites ranging in size
from half an acre to over one acre. Membership:Membership will be capped at 325 for the Jack Nicklaus
Signature Golf Course. Membership program features 33 Founder Members.
